Adolescence Directory On-Line (ADOL)

The American Medical Association's Department of Adolescent Health provides an on-line guide to health and health risk issues, resources for professionals, teachers and parents and access to other related resources.

Advocates for Youth

Advocates for Youth is dedicated to creating programs and promoting policies which help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health. Advocates for Youth provides information, training, and advocacy to youth-serving organizations, policy makers, and the media in the U.S. and internationally. Their Web site includes information on HIV prevention, sexuality education and teen pregnancy prevention.

ASPIRA

Devoted to the education and leadership development of Puerto Rican and Latino youth, ASPIRA's Web site offers access to a variety of programs and services for youth including arts, tutoring, cultural enrichment, community service and summer enrichment.

Association for Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP)

ARHP is composed of medical professionals from a wide variety of disciplines stemming from reproductive health. In addition to headline news and health articles, the Web site provides information on family planning, contraception and other reproductive health issues.

California Alliance Concerned with School Age Parenting

    The California Alliance Concerned with School Age Parenting and Pregnancy Prevention (CACSAP) is a statewide organization dedicated to the prevention of teen pregnancy and the promotion of the health and well-being of parenting teens and their young children.

California Department of Education (CDE)

    The California Department of Education establishes the code for sexual education in California's public institutions. CDE also offers support to pregnant and parenting teens and their children through various school programs.

California Department of Health Services (DHS)

The California Department of Health Services offers health care and preventative services to Californians, and spearheads Partnership for Responsible Parenting, a statewide teen pregnancy prevention public education campaign.

California Department of Social Services (DSS)

The California Department of Social Services provides aid, services and protection to the state's children and adults through programs that encourage responsibility and independence.

Children and Youth Policy

The United States Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Human Services Policy, has compiled a summary of research currently being conducted in the area of child and youth policy.  Reports include the 1997-98 first annual report to Congress on teen pregnancy prevention and a review of recent research surrounding adolescent sex, contraception and childbearing.

Coalition for Positive Sexuality

The Coalition for Positive Sexuality provides straightforward information to facilitate discussions surrounding safe sex, birth control, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH)

Established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DASH works with local, state, and national organizations to identify high priority health risks among youth, monitor the prevalence of those risks and implement programs to reduce them, followed by an evaluation of the programs.

EC-Help

Offers information on emergency contraception (EC), including how EC works, side-effects of EC use, frequently asked questions about EC, how to obtain EC, and a listing of pharmacies in California that are participating in the EC Pharmacy Program.

Facts at a Glance

Facts At A Glance is Child Trends' annual statistical portrait of teen childbearing in the United States. The 2001 Facts at a Glance includes the latest teen birth data for every state and the 150 largest U.S. cities; comparisons of teen childbearing in the United States with teen birth rates in other developed nations; and survey data indicating that adults and teens perceive teens to be far more sexually active than they actually are.

Child Trends is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization that studies children, youth, and families through research, data collection, and data analysis.

Girls Incorporated

For over 50 years, Girls Incorporated has dedicated itself to helping girls grow into strong, smart and bold young women.  In addition to research and advocacy, Girls Incorporated conducts programs addressing pregnancy prevention, adolescent health, media literacy, substance abuse prevention and sports participation.

National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy

Founded in 1996, the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy leads the nation in drawing attention to the issue of teen pregnancy and providing technical assistance to state and local programs. The National Campaign’s Web site contains facts and statistics about teen pregnancy in the United States, tips for parents and other helpful resources.

National Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy, Parenting and Prevention (NOAPPP)

Focused exclusively on these three issues, NOAPPP provides a forum for differing viewpoints to be expressed and appreciated.  NOAPPP provides information on “hot topics,” links to state coalitions and access to related resources.

Pharmacy Access

Offers information and resources for pharmacists, physicians, policy makers and consumers interested in family planning and promoting community health. Dedicated to giving women, men and families more options for accessing contraception and health care services.

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC)

Comprised of Planned Parenthood offices throughout the state, PPAC is a state public affairs office affiliated with the national organization.  PPAC provides information largely focused on California legislation, reproductive health issues and statewide services and locations.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA)

Planned Parenthood Federation of America provides comprehensive access to sexual health information, fact sheets, reproductive health news and local Planned Parenthood clinics.

Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS)

SIECUS develops, collects, and disseminates information promoting comprehensive education about sexuality and advocates the rights of individuals to make responsible choices. The SIECUS Web site has a section for parents, as well as programs for community advocacy, school based sexual education, HIV/AIDS prevention and public policy.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute

One of the leading research institutions in the nation, the Alan Guttmacher Institute provides comprehensive information on sexual behavior, pregnancy and birth, pregnancy prevention, contraception and sexually transmitted diseases.  A special section is dedicated exclusively to serving youth.

The California Center for Health Improvement

The California Center for Health Improvement is a prevention-focused health policy center dedicated to disseminating accurate information about health issues.  The Web site has information about public policy, publications and links to other health-related organizations.

The California Wellness Foundation

Created in 1992 as an independent, private foundation, The California Wellness foundation's mission is to improve the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education and disease prevention.

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation

Nationally regarded for health policy research and information, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation provides daily health reports, state health facts, information regarding HIV/AIDS, health policy and reproductive health.
