Family Planning Services and the California Governor's 2006-2007 Budget

  • HIV/AIDS Program: The budget provides $299.4 million ($107.7 million general fund) to fully fund the projected caseload for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program.

  • HIV Education Prevention: The budget also provides $37.9 million ($ 30.5 million general fund including $5.6 million in one-time funding)

  • Healthy Families Program (HFP): The 2006-07 budget includes a total of $1 billion ($368 million general fund) to support HFP activities within various departments. This is an increase of $129.4 million ($47.4 million general fund) from last year's budget.

  • Streamline enrollment processes for Children's Health Programs: This year's budget includes $9.6 million ($3.5 million general fund) to simplify the enrollment of children into the HFP. The program change will encourage use of an electronic application.

  • Increase the number of successful applicants for Children's Health Programs: $2.2 million ($843,000 general fund) to provide incentive payments to certified application assistance to encourage the enrollment of more children in Medi-Cal and HFP.

  • Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) Program: The 2006-07 Budget includes $120.4 million, which is a $5 million increase from the 2005-06 budget.
